Happy Birthday Logan Michael!

9 year old Logan
10 year old Logan

Today my baby turned 10 years old!! How is it possible that my youngest child is actually in double digits?!

Birthdays are a big deal at our house (as a result of a Christmas birthday for the first born that we went out of our way to make special-we have to make everyone's birthday just as special). We tend to extend the birthday's for as long as we can. Friday Logan got his hair cut so that he'd go back to school on his birthday with a 'new do'. He'd been contemplating it for awhile, but could never decide what he really wanted to do with it. I was terrified of him getting it cut and being upset or disappointed, so we waited until he had a clear 'vision'.

Sunday, Brian took him to Long John Silver's for a special meal. Ciera and I don't eat fish (except tuna), so we let this be a special daddy/Logan outing. They also picked out a birthday baseball glove that day. Last week his new guitar for Guitar Hero World Tour arrived and he got to open it up early too.

Today was Logan's day to bring snack to school, but they aren't allowed to bring in anything with 'sugar' like a birthday cupcake. So, he chose nachos! I actually got to buy one of those giant cans of nacho cheese from Costco. He also got to wear his 'birthday shirt' today. Logan chose to have Taco Bell for his birthday lunch and even got to have a soda at school.

As soon as Brian got home, Logan got to open his gifts. His sister gave him a bunch of pens and Axe hair stuff for his new 'do. He also got his very own camcorder! I'm not sure what he plans to do with it, but he really wanted one. He also got a few cards in the mail and a Walmart gift card that he was very excited about!

Then it was time for dinner. Logan chose to go to KFC and then a big desert at Leatherby's. Many people love this ice cream parlor. I remember thinking it was pretty special when I was a kid. Logan and Ciera really enjoyed the giant serving of ice cream and Logan's was dripping with fudge and caramel. As an adult I found the place a little overrated.

When we got home Logan and Brian played some catch and some video games before bed. My sweet little man has gotten so big and now calls us Mom and Dad, but he still gave me a sweet kiss and hug goodnight. He no longer responds to us if we don't call him by his actual name. Gone are the days that we could call him any nickname, but he'll always be my little bear!

Still to come this week is his family dinner-pork chops and mashed potatoes with gravy, his sleepover with his cousins and his sleepover with a few friends from school.

It's been a good 10 years!Posted by Picasa
